Our new single Animal has been chosen as Beat's Single Of The Week! Here's what Simone said in her review:
"Tic Toc Tokyo have changed their name in preparation for their sophomore release. I dunno what for, like. Animal is the first cab off the rank and it's a gem- every drum beat, guitar sound and vocal yelp is abrupt and contained, inhibiting its own distinct little place in the song, but still part of a narrative. A funky kind of minimalist math rock."
Hey all, just a quick message to announce that our new single Animal has been added to rotation on Sydney's FBi Radio! Sydneysiders can tune in on 94.5FM, and the rest of us can enjoy the community radio goodness streaming online at www.fbiradio.com.
TTT are excited to announce the release of Animal, the first single from our debut album Lands.
Characterised by its drum machine loop, heavy melodic bass, percussive rhythms, dual vocals and soaring, abrasive guitar, Animal is the first preview of the direction and intent of the album, due for release in April 2010. The track is now available for download via iTunes; you can get it by following this link, or preview the track on our Myspace.
We'll be launching the single at The Curtin Bandroom on Saturday February 13th, with more details to be announced soon!
TTT (formerly Tic Toc Tokyo) play the Workers Club on Saturday, December 19th. The band have spent the majority of 2009 recording their debut album with producer Nao Anzai (Because of Ghosts, Laura), and are excited to be playing a special preview of completed album tracks for this show. The album (due for release in early 2010) is a distillation of the musical themes and ideas the band have collectively explored, combining an experimental approach that incorporates a variety of instrumentation and a strong sense of melody and dynamics. Playing alongside TTT will be good friends Gosteleradio (launching their first single 'Guillotine' from their forthcoming debut album), and Kraut-inspired electronic duo Peace Out! (featuring members of The Emergency). Doors from 8.30pm, tickets $10 on the door.
Four years after starting out as Tic Toc Tokyo, we feel it's time for a change and would like to announce that from now on the band will be using the abbreviated name of TTT. Leading up to the release of our debut album early next year, we feel this change is better suited to our current and future projects and endeavours. Thanks y'all for your understanding.
'The first band on at the ever more impressive Workers Club- and sole support act for the show- were Melbourne art riff generators Tic Toc Tokyo. Mixing polyrhythms with dancefloor bass lines and ambient guitar sounds, the band have found the perfect balance between live instrumentation and processed noise. A stellar performance which impressed with its precision, inventiveness and power.'
TTT will be on Triple R radio TONIGHT (Thursday July 16th) at 7pm as part of a Victoria Rocks special, where we'll be talking about our forthcoming album for which we received an Arts Victoria grant. We'll also be playing some of the newly recorded album tracks on air for the first time. Tune in from 7pm on 102.7FM, or listen to it live streaming at www.rrr.org.au.
We've just completed
a filmclip for our new single, Ritual. The clip was directed and
edited by the magnificent Chris Tursi and Nic Oogjes. Extra special
thanks also to Margarita, Anita & Ingrid for all their help
on the day.
Tic Toc Tokyo release their new single,
Ritual, this Saturday October 18th.
Marked by haunting vocals, abrasive
tones and percussive rhythms, Ritual sees the band explore a more
expansive sound as they develop the experimental aspects of their
debut EP, Artefacts. Lead by an unified rhythm and taking on space
as an integral element, the track is driven by tension before moving
into an atmospheric interlude inhabited by dual overlapping vocals,
textured guitars and melodica. Ritual was recorded by producer Nao
Anzai at Head Gap Studios in Melbourne.
Ritual will be released as 4 track
CD, available via MGM Distribution. Accompanying Ritual on the single
is a remix of the track Colour of Place (which appeared on the Artefacts
EP released earlier this year). Colour of Place- Oona's Nuclear
Winter Mix is an atmospheric, experimental dub-influenced alternate
version of the track, remixed by producer Casey Rice (AKA. Designer)
at his Classix studio.
Rounding out the release are versions
live versions of Traps and The River- two highlights of our live
set and recorded especially for this release by Nao Anzai in the
Pony bandroom, Melbourne.

it.

Sydney's FBi radio.
TTT are pleased to announce the release
